David James McCelvey - Adjunct Professor
- Universal School of Recyclando Bike-enomics - David "re-found" the joy of creating art after receiving an extensive education in business administration and related disciplines. He looked at the memories of his past (some oh yah! AHA!! moments) which steered him towards making furniture and abstract art out of bicycles and found objects. His father, an engineer by trade and consummate hobbyist, was his greatest influence; always working on projects in their workshop. Equipped with all sorts of tools and scrap materials, he freely supported his son's natural creative inclinations. In his teens, David won a t-shirt design contest and had his woodworks displayed in a local shopping mall and newspaper.
David sees his bikengruvin® bike art as an innovative and colorful representation of the wonderful potential of bicycle recycling. He hopes this new art practice inspires people from all walks of life to... recycle and renew bicycles... with their own artistic skills and personal touch.
